To start at the very beginning

In reality it's always too late to start writing a diary. Unless you are a miracle baby and can do it from the day on which you are born, it will always be incomplete. Do you watch programmes if you've switched the television on halfway through? Would you go into the cinema part-way through a film? I think not.So here's the story so far...
· Born in London in the fifties, the younger daughter of a stay-at-home (at that time) mother, electronics engineer father.
· Attended girls' convent primary then grammar school; reasonably academic, not co- ordinated enough either physically or optically to enjoy sports.
· Moved out to Hertfordshire at sixteen. 'A' levels.
· Gained degree in Computing Science, married Kevin. Worked a few years.
· Moved to Holland, left it and Kevin after a year, returned to England.
· Worked freelance around country and in Switzerland, lived with John.
· Took contract in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Met Shaun.
· Came back to England, married Shaun, had Katye then Alex.
· Shaun departed, I moved with the children to the North West.
· Raised children, worked in I.T. for next sixteen years.
· Granddaughter Emma born to Katye; my mother died five days later.
· Made redundant. Worked various non-I.T. jobs.
· Back-packed solo around the world for nine months.
· Sold house to pay off mortgage. Moved into flat with Alex.
· Trained to teach English as a foreign language. Tried it but felt like square peg.

That's just about where I am now. But this really tells you nothing significant about me.I'm a fifty-something (59 actually so the expression is accurate) woman still searching. Please join me in my search.

What do I need to be happy?

Loving family. Tick.
Friends. Tick.
Roof over my head. Tick.
Regular income ... blank.

Hmmmm... looks like if I get a job I shall be completely happy. But wait - I've had jobs before. Is this going to be enough? I can only try it again and see...

I'm educated, articulate, intelligent, friendly, blah blah blah - how do I get someone to employ me?

I'll work on it tomorrow!
